Many people in Ohio do not know there are beaches in our state. Others may know there are some beaches around, but the fact of the matter is that Ohio has over 100 beaches. Our Great Ohio Outback Wilderness "Ohio Beach Council" has been formed to protect, preserve, promote and develop the diverse beaches of Ohio.
Our sandy beaches come in all sizes, are monitored for cleanliness, and most even have some small waves. Many are located on state parks lakes, others on Lake Erie and many on campgrounds and private resorts.
Although, we have some very fine beaches in Ohio there is always room for enhancements and improvements. We have a great opportunity in front of us with our vast inventory of beaches throughout Ohio and the current state of the under development and under utilization of inland beach assets throughout the nation.
The national inland beach market is under developed, under used and poorly marketed. This council will explore and recommend a diverse range of enhancements, changes, and future developments that could position Ohio very attractively on the ground floor of a potentially future booming tourism segment.
In addition, we will focus heavily on promotion and marketing ideas and concepts utilizing re-tooling, re-designing and re-branding of existing beach assets throughout the state.
Ohio is a great beach state and beaches are located in nearly all 17 Wild Regions of The Great Ohio Outback Wilderness. With a few new ideas, a marketing campaign and the proper packaging of our beach assets, Ohio can be a premier destination for clean, fun and beautifully developed sandy beaches.
